Not re-discovered, as I've never (evah) been a fan of reading. I'd always try to find a way around school required reading. There were only two books I actually read and liked in the first two decades of my life- Ramona the Pest and To Kill a Mockingbird.

Suddenly, though, I have an unquenchable thirst for books. The more I read the more passionate I become about finding new books. I’m finally enjoying the escape and adventure everyone always claimed to get from books. I have read more books so far this year than ever before! I can’t believe I haven’t always been a reader!

BTW- I love getting all of your book reviews on Goodreads! And I’m really looking forward to reading Goose Girl.

Oh yeah, favorite book so far...I would have said A Thousand Splendid Suns because it made for such great discussion. However, I’m going to have to say Did I Expect Angels which I’m just finishing.Rustihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12070237989236965838noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36232626.post-64744653544318129332008-08-28T23:16:00.000-07:002008-08-28T23:16:00.000-07:00of course mindy is reading the polygamous book! h...of course mindy is reading the polygamous book! haha! i am just as interested/obsessed as she is, so i'll have to check out that book!
i love to read and love your goal of reading 50 books this year. i'm not sure how many i've read this year. this summer it was all textbooks, as i was taking 20 credits, but i did squeeze in Bitter is the New Black by Jen Lancaster, which led to me read her other two books, Bright Lights, Big A--, and Such a Pretty Fat. She is hilarious!! Her books are quick, funny, and impossible to put down. I highly suggest any of them, although I feel like the first 2 were better than the last. Enjoy!
And PS, i really want to see you soon!! really soon!bevhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16003542561229091095noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36232626.post-36377334743704644642008-08-27T17:02:00.000-07:002008-08-27T17:02:00.000-07:00I too have recently caught the reading bug that is...I too have recently caught the reading bug that is going around. I am currently reading "Stolen Innocence: My Story of Growing Up in a Polygamous Sect" by Elissa Wall. I read and then stop and say to my husband, "you can't believe this part..." It is such an interesting book on how that culture lives.

One of my favorite reads the last few months has to be "Tuesdays with Morrie" by Mitch Albom. I loved this book and did not stop reading it until I was finished. It is full of the most wonderful life lessons and makes you want to be a better person, not out of guilt, but out of satisfaction. You seriously fall in love with the characters and want the best for them. I'll admit, I got choked up too.

Even if I'm not you pick, check these books out sometime.Mindy Sautherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06008659540494247693noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36232626.post-61818064921231568672008-08-27T12:40:00.000-07:002008-08-27T12:40:00.000-07:00I'll have to second These is my Words By Nancy Tur...I'll have to second These is my Words By Nancy Turner! My favorite books this year were probably The Wedding Dress by Virginia Ellis and These Is My Words by Nancy Turner. The Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls was fascinating and really well written. There was just a bit too much info about a few parts.Jenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09576602727279614344noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36232626.post-85682169950526356832008-08-25T16:55:00.000-07:002008-08-25T16:55:00.000-07:00Lori, this has nothing to do with the book.. I have a hard time picking favorites, but I recently finished My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult. I liked it a lot. I should add the warming to be ready for the tears.Nicolehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00701403593850394994noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36232626.post-86910838097836918512008-08-23T13:29:00.000-07:002008-08-23T13:29:00.000-07:00I have no idea how I found your blog, but I love t...I have no idea how I found your blog, but I love that your goal was to read 50 books this year. But, one of my favorite books from my youth that I just shared with my husband and he loved too was "A Wrinkle in Time" by Madeleine L'Engle. If you haven't read it your really should. I remember my mother reading it to me when I was young and I love it just as much now as I did back then.Nataliehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03250681287007403924noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36232626.post-42301898697605720792008-08-21T09:26:00.000-07:002008-08-21T09:26:00.000-07:00I love Mike too.My teenage niece read the Shannon ...I love Mike too.

My teenage niece read the Shannon Hale books and loved them, so I need to check them out. Thanks for the adult recommendation. :)

One of my favorite books read this year was {These Is My Words} by Nancy Turner. A great love story, but not cheesy at all (and I've learned there are one or two more books to follow, but haven't read them yet).

anyway, that's my two cents. Congrats on all your reading! I've never heard of this book, if I don't win I'll have to check it out at the library.

Hmmmm...my favorite book this year. I haven't read the Twilight series (I know, I know) so that's really not a problem for me to rule it out. I would have to say Childhood's End by Arthur C. Clarke. Yes, he's a sci-fi author and I was totally intimidated by him because I've heard 2001 is a tough read. But he's an incredible author and makes science extremely readable. Plus this book really made me think at the ending.

Second favorite would be Austenland, I got that recommendation from your blog! I really liked it, it embodied what I like in a girly book.Tanyahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13946804746498754154noreply@blogger.com
