:: DUE DATE #2 ::

My due date has been changed three times in the last 9 months. At my first appointment they weren't sure, so they sent me for an "invasive" (without going into too much information) ultrasound. The date the gal gave me was April 4th. About three weeks later at my appointment, my doctor did a bedside ultrasound and said, "I think this baby is due closer to March 23rd." Then when I did the big 20 week gender ultrasound, a different doctor said, "I am saying you are due to deliver around March 28th."

Due Date #1 - April 4th
Due Date #2 - March 23rd
Due Date #3 - March 28th

So, although I tell people that I am due "the end of March" I can't help but keep March 23rd in my mind. It is March 23rd and here I sit. Because most of you know that weekend trips to Wendover used to pay my rent, wanna make a bet?

Here are some facts to base your wagers on...

I am trying for a VBAC (vaginal birth after cessarian) so I must go into labor on my own.
They cannot induce me with pitocin.
I have an appointment tomorrow (Tuesday) to strip my membranes (whatever that is).
I have an appointment scheduled for March 30th (if I haven't had the baby) to discuss a possible C-section. (cross your fingers that we don't have to discuss it.)
I'm already a little dilated and effaced.
I tend to break down when I get miserable.

There you go. Also, please leave me with any of your "old wives tales" about inducing labor. I will not drink castor oil.

Eek. Well, I have no knowledge on how to self-induce, so I'll just read everyone else's comments! But, good luck either way! Super excited to be having a girl with you! :)

Hm....self inducing... I've heard two things, one of the local pizza places (I don't remember which one) had what people called a "labor" pizza. I heard that really it was just loaded with garlic. So maybe eat lots of garlic? There's another I've heard of, but I'm too embarrassed to type it onto a public forum on the internet. So I'll email it to you.

I've got my fingers crossed that this little girl comes soon! I'm gonna put my money on March 26. No reasoning, just because.

Um - I think I told you my little trick on our girl's trip - I will definitely not be sharing it on your blog - GOOD LUCK!!!

I've heard drinking pineapple juice will do the trick. Or walking up and down stairs facing sideways. Hope that helps! Good luck, and keep us posted with how things go!

Lori, I just had a baby 4 weeks ago. My sister who is a massage therapist massaged 2 points on my legs while I massaged 2 on my hands. The baby was born 6 hours later. I didn't even know I was in labor it went so fast. So, if you want to know the tricks, seriously give me a call. 573-6538. Oh and my other friend did the same thing two days later and had her baby within the same day as well. It totally works.

P.S. In reading the other comments, I'd second the motion on the pizza. That's what I ate to have Marcela and I was going in for an induction BUT - they never had to give me the petocin. My water broke on its own. The restaurant is Cafe Trio and it's the chicken and garlic pizza, but all you have to do is go there and ask for "the pizza" - your belly will tell them the rest! And, yes, a little "whoopie" never hurt either. :)

Oh man!! I am sorry that you still haven't had her! I saw you guys walking to your car the other day and I felt bad! BUMMER! I don't have any ideas to induce labor, but good luck! Hopefully it will be VERY SOON! I have a little something to bring you! :)

I can personally vouch for nipple stimulation, but it takes time and persistance.....but it does release oxytocin which is what brings on labor.....it helped with Eve. :)

Good luck on the VBAC!!!

Wow! I hope things go well! Stripping membranes doesn't always do it, but since you are already effaced, it may help.
I have heard massaging "the points" on your hands and feet works. Walking the curb (one foot on the curb, one on the street), but be REALLY careful! Also, walking up hill...a lot, worked for me (those darn Rexburg hills :) Good luck and let us know how things go..and if you tried any of these (i'm only due in a few months..so I need all the help I can get!!)

Good luck. I hope you don't have to have another c-section. I don't really have any wives tales because as you know, I ended up with two c-sections because both kids did not want to come out. I also tried castroil with the first and I DO NOT recommend it!! Plus it did nothing for me. Good luck.

I was a week late... I was told that I should get a deep foot massage. I had Bret rub my feet until his hands cramped and I went into labor the next day!

I understand stripping membranes is uncomfortable, but can set labor into motion within a few hours!

Lori, stripping membranes involves pain and blood- good luck! Can't wait to hear all about it and see that little girl!

I agree with the evening primrose oil. If you will insert 6-8 capsules vaginally at night, as close to your cervix as possible (get some help with this of course!), that will help a ton.
Also, sex, sex, sex. not only does the semen have prostiglandins that will help move things along, good orgasms will help to get those contractions going.
Nipple stimulation will also help...oh, and a blessing.
I am praying that you have that little girl SOON!!! I am going to guess March 27.

Sounds like the 2nd due date was the correct one!

Congratulations, I am so glad you were able to have a VB and avoid another C-section. Can't wait to meet baby Piper! I am sure she is just perfect!

Well, stripping membranes worked with my last baby (although my doctor did it without asking my permission which I'm still not happy about). It was kind of painful, but the baby came two days later!

I heard you had a cute baby girl! Apparently whatever suggestion you tried WORKED!!! Can't wait to see pictures, hope your recovery is fast!

I took castor oil. . .and it worked. But, it was not so pleasant! I found out later that you probably shouldn't do it though. Stripping my membranes has never helped. I've had it done with all 4 kids. Waiting is the worst. I will keep you in my prayers. I hope it turns out the way you want it to! Good luck!
