:: I've Read 50+ Books GIVE-A-WAY ::

I made a goal at the beginning of the year to read 50 books by December. I thought it would be harder than it was but then I was introduced to the joy of Young Adult Fiction and I was whipping out a book a day (read: neglecting my housework and letting Cohen watch excess of Spongebob). I was excited to reach my goal a few weeks ago, the idea was to give away the 50th book I read. However, book #50 was LAME so I kept reading until I found one to give away. After a few duds, I decided I'd give away one of my favorites of the year instead.

I loved the Shannon Hale series of Goose Girl, Enna Burning, and River Secrets. I thought they were fantastic and cannot wait to share them with my children in the future. WONDERFUL! So, because I love it so much, I want you to love it, too. I am giving away Goose Girl, the first book in the group. It is not the version posted above, it is just the paperback but it is brand new and still in the Barnes & Noble bag.

And... it will come wrapped up in this cute little book bag tote that was made by moi. Lucky you.

If you are interested in this stuff, just leave me a comment below with your name and your favorite book (besides the Twilight Series) that you've read this year. If you have a suggestion for more books, I'd love to hear it. I'll pick a random winner on August 31st.

I'm glad my love for books has been resurrected, and I am glad Mike is supportive with it. You can tell a good man when he says, "I'll take Cohen to the park so you can read your book." Love you babe!

Cute bag! You make the cutest things, I can't wait to see what you're working on tonight. I've never heard of this book, if I don't win I'll have to check it out at the library.

Hmmmm...my favorite book this year. I haven't read the Twilight series (I know, I know) so that's really not a problem for me to rule it out. I would have to say Childhood's End by Arthur C. Clarke. Yes, he's a sci-fi author and I was totally intimidated by him because I've heard 2001 is a tough read. But he's an incredible author and makes science extremely readable. Plus this book really made me think at the ending.

Second favorite would be Austenland, I got that recommendation from your blog! I really liked it, it embodied what I like in a girly book.

I love Mike too.

My teenage niece read the Shannon Hale books and loved them, so I need to check them out. Thanks for the adult recommendation. :)

One of my favorite books read this year was {These Is My Words} by Nancy Turner. A great love story, but not cheesy at all (and I've learned there are one or two more books to follow, but haven't read them yet).

anyway, that's my two cents. Congrats on all your reading! Way to go.

How fun!!! My favorite book of all time is All Quiet on the Western Front. But, I haven't read it this year. But, one of my favorite books from my youth that I just shared with my husband and he loved too was "A Wrinkle in Time" by Madeleine L'Engle. If you haven't read it your really should. I remember my mother reading it to me when I was young and I love it just as much now as I did back then.

I love, love, love The Time Traveler's Wife. It is one of my all time favorites. I've read it many times, but the most recent is at Thanksgiving. Does that count as this year? ;)

What a great idea! I have to say that I hated the twilight seiries, I know I'm weird! I love The Kite Runner.

Way to go with 50 well before December! I love books, I just wish I had more time to read them... maybe in 18 years? ROFL.

Do sewing books count? I've 'read' several - my favorite being the Sew Everything Workshop (it actually has reading material!)

I have no idea how I found your blog, but I love that your goal was to read 50 books this year. What a great goal! I have read some really good books this year, but my favorite one so far is When Crickets Cry, by Charles Martin.

Fun! 50 books. That is awesome! Plus you made it in 8 months. Good job!! After a bit of a reading dry spell I actually got some good reading in this year. I have a hard time picking favorites, but I recently finished My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult. I liked it a lot. I should add the warming to be ready for the tears.

Lori, this has nothing to do with the book.. I wish I had time to read! :) Anyway, I am just wondering if you still had those dang cute can centerpieces from your party. My sister wants them for her baby blessing if you still have them and don't want them!

That bag is so cute! I am so impressed. You have done a lot of reading this year! My favorite books this year were probably The Wedding Dress by Virginia Ellis and These Is My Words by Nancy Turner. The Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls was fascinating and really well written. There was just a bit too much info about a few parts.

I too have recently caught the reading bug that is going around. I am currently reading "Stolen Innocence: My Story of Growing Up in a Polygamous Sect" by Elissa Wall. I read and then stop and say to my husband, "you can't believe this part..." It is such an interesting book on how that culture lives.

One of my favorite reads the last few months has to be "Tuesdays with Morrie" by Mitch Albom. I loved this book and did not stop reading it until I was finished. It is full of the most wonderful life lessons and makes you want to be a better person, not out of guilt, but out of satisfaction. You seriously fall in love with the characters and want the best for them. I'll admit, I got choked up too.

Even if I'm not you pick, check these books out sometime.

of course mindy is reading the polygamous book! haha! i am just as interested/obsessed as she is, so i'll have to check out that book!
i love to read and love your goal of reading 50 books this year. i'm not sure how many i've read this year. this summer it was all textbooks, as i was taking 20 credits, but i did squeeze in Bitter is the New Black by Jen Lancaster, which led to me read her other two books, Bright Lights, Big A--, and Such a Pretty Fat. She is hilarious!! Her books are quick, funny, and impossible to put down. I highly suggest any of them, although I feel like the first 2 were better than the last. Enjoy!
And PS, i really want to see you soon!! really soon!

Oooo, I do love your totes! :)

Just this year I have discovered a love for reading. Not re-discovered, as I've never (evah) been a fan of reading. I'd always try to find a way around school required reading. There were only two books I actually read and liked in the first two decades of my life- Ramona the Pest and To Kill a Mockingbird.

Suddenly, though, I have an unquenchable thirst for books. The more I read the more passionate I become about finding new books. I’m finally enjoying the escape and adventure everyone always claimed to get from books. I have read more books so far this year than ever before! I can’t believe I haven’t always been a reader!

BTW- I love getting all of your book reviews on Goodreads! And I’m really looking forward to reading Goose Girl.

Oh yeah, favorite book so far...I would have said A Thousand Splendid Suns because it made for such great discussion. However, I’m going to have to say Did I Expect Angels which I’m just finishing.
